Hotel Pakaritampu is conveniently situated a couple of minutes’ walk from the railway station in Ollantaytambo, the point of departure for the scenic railway journey to Machu Picchu. Ollantaytambo is well worth a visit in itself: it’s a rural village whose history is manifested in the Inca walls forming the base of colonial houses, the exposed water channels that run along its cobbled lanes, and a massive Inca fortress perched on the gateway from the Andes to the jungle.
