Modest but very spacious hotel in a carefully restored 19th century building peppered with antiques and colonial-style paintings.

The simple, typically Peruvian Hostel la Casona Monsante is one of the few decent accommodation options in off-the-beaten-track Chachapoyas. The high-ceilinged guestrooms are very spacious and quiet, and the bathrooms are modern with reliable hot water.

The hotel is housed within a 19th century former residence, which has been restored with care. Antiques and colonial-style paintings adorn the common areas, while white walls and tiled floors keep the overall aesthetic clean and unfussy. There is an attractive orchid garden in the courtyard.
