An opulent hotel in Casco Viejo, Panama City’s thriving and atmospheric colonial quarter, showcasing the capital’s multi-layered past.

The 77 guest rooms and 11 suites are spread across three distinct wings: the Spanish Colonial wing dating back to 1688; the French colonial wing, built by Jesuit priests in 1739; and the American Beau-Arts wing which was once a high-end department store in the early 1900’s. Every room has been individually curated with nods to the building’s storied history; exposed original masonry and artwork and photographs from the hotel’s 16,000-piece collection.

There are two bars and five restaurants, including 1739, a steakhouse with an underground wine cellar that dates back 300 years, and El Santuario, which resembles an old Spanish church serves Asian fusion cuisine. The rooftop pool and bar offer a wonderful vantage point with fine views over the Pacific Ocean where vessels wait their turn to pass through the canal.
