Secluded hotel with comfortable cabins and a beautiful setting on Lake Nicaragua; an original and still one of the best of Ometepe island's simple hotels.

In splendid isolation in the middle of Lake Nicaragua, the dramatic forested island of Ometepe is dominated by the peaks of two volcanoes and fringed by beautiful white-sand beaches.

Accommodation on the island is simple and in our opinion the friendly, family-owned Villa Paraíso is still among the most inviting of Ometepe’s guesthouses. The property enjoys a secluded spot on Playa Santo Domingo, where its cosy cabins sit within a landscaped garden.

Most have private bathrooms with hot water; some also have a kitchen. All come with air-conditioning and a front porch with hammocks and chairs to relax in. There’s also a thatched bar and restaurant serving traditional Nicaraguan fare. A variety of activities can be arranged including volcano hikes, trips to the petroglyphs and bike rental.

What our clients say

  • We chose to upgrade to a lake view and got a beautiful cabin with a bit of lawn outside.   Rocking chairs and hammock on balcony - beautiful!

  • This hotel was fine, staff again helpful and attentive. Food was good. Observations. This is beach fronted and from its location east of the island gets exposed to considerable wind…
