The centrally located Hostel de la Noria is a mid-sized, mid-range hotel with plenty of historic atmosphere. The converted 19th century mansion is just two blocks from the main square in the centre of town, making it a convenient base for exploring Oaxaca.
Rooms are simple but spacious, with touches of vibrant colour. The architecture is a highlight and communal areas are particularly lovely – there’s a roof terrace bar, a central courtyard with fountain and a profusion of plants, and a small plunge pool. Arts and crafts inspired by the local indigenous culture add a charming regional flavour.
