A small, luxurious Belmond hotel away from the crowds on an idyllic Caribbean beach.

A special place for treating yourself, Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, has been lovingly created as an exclusive hideaway on a private estate on Riviera Maya. It’s perfect for an intimate, romantic break, yet also family-friendly.

Originally a coconut plantation, this beautiful service-orientated property has a remote feel backed by tropical forest, away from developments elsewhere on the Riviera Maya, yet only 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen.

It opens onto a long, sweeping crescent of powdery white sands lapped by glass-clear waters. The exterior is inspired by Moorish architecture, featuring dazzling white walls and domes. Step out from your polished wood or gleaming tiled floor onto the beach or tropical gardens.

The restaurants serve sustainably-sourced Mexican and international dishes and there’s an impressive cocktail and mezcal menu for sundowners.

The comprehensive spa – the first by Guerlain in Latin America – offers a range of treatments including aromatherapy and Mayan-themed massages, or you can opt for bee therapy at the hotel’s Meliponia bee sanctuary and meditation in the sea. Other facilities include three pools and a temazcal (sweat lodge). You can snorkel off the beach or take a boat out to the reef, part of the second longest in the world.
