Homestay on Lake Titicaca

pan03-horseridevolcano-free-ja

Experience the local culture by staying with a family on an island surrounded by the sapphire expanse of Lake Titicaca.

Such is the vastness of Lake Titicaca that when staying on one of the islands scattered across its shimmering surface, you could easily imagine you were in the middle of the ocean. However it isn’t just the sublime setting that makes a homestay here so rewarding: isolation has preserved the timeless traditions of the lake’s small island communities, making them fascinating places to immerse yourself in local culture.

We can arrange homestays on a number of Lake Titicaca’s scenic isles and peninsulas, including little-known Luquina Chico where rural life remains little impacted by the modern world, and Taquile and Amantani with their unique island traditions. It is now even possible to spend the night on the man-made reed islands of Uros, floating adrift on the great lake.
