Lagarta Lodge is a luxurious, eco-friendly  property on Costa Rica's Nicoya Peninsula offering intimate first class accommodation, spa, gourmet restaurants and fabulous ocean views.

Set on Costa Rica’s undeveloped Nicoya Peninsula fronting the rugged Pacific coast, first class Lagarta Lodge sits within its own nature reserve where exotic birds, howler monkeys and anteaters can be spotted by  visitors.  But the attraction is more than wildlife, there are several gorgeous beaches nearby you can get to by golf cart or the hotel will arrange a car – these range from protected forest-fringed bays where you can safely swim to sweeping sands where ocean rollers collide, which are perfect for surfing. The most southerly beach offers the unique attraction of hosting a staggering half a million Olive Ridley turtles which breed there; it’s an amazing sight when their palm-sized babies make a dash for the sea.

The proudly eco-friendly property itself comprises of a clutch of large junior suites each with its own veranda or terrace. The contemporary décor, in muted earthy colours, serves to emphasise the feeling of space.  There are a multitude of breathtaking views, a sun deck, a panorama deck, gourmet restaurant, a Sunset Bar where you can sip a cocktail and watch the evening sky turn from apricot to purple, and a lounge exclusive to hotel guests. Other amenities include two infinity pools, a Jacuzzi, shop, and an art gallery. There’s a definite emphasis on wellness, with spa treatments and yoga classes but if you fancy something more active you choose between kayaking, horse riding and hiking  in the forest or along the coast.
