Small, magical hotel built of salt, with ethereal views of Bolivia's stunning Uyuni salt flats.

The clue to what makes Luna Salada extraordinary and unique is in its name, which translates as ‘salt moon’. Built almost entirely of salt blocks, this isolated hotel overlooks the spectacularly surreal Uyuni salt flats from a low bluff, giving the impression of being on the edge of another planet.

Except for the tiled bathrooms, all the walls and floors of this incredible property are made of compacted salt crystals, which shimmer in the sunlight. Even the furniture is mostly made of salt, made homely with cushions and Bolivian textiles.

Guestrooms are modest but all have heaters, electric blankets and cosy bedspreads. The rooms are built along one side of a long corridor, with a sitting area and large bay windows framing wonderful views of the salt flats.
