Coral Caye is a tiny Coppola-owned sand-fringed island where you can be the exclusive guests.

Here’s an opportunity to stay on your very own desert island. Wow your family and entertain your friends at Coral Caye, a tiny rainforest and mangrove-ringed tropical islet belonging to Francis Ford Coppola, owner of Turtle Inn and Blancaneaux Lodge on the Belize mainland.

There are just three buildings on this sand-fringed tiny speck in the Caribbean Sea 13km off Placencia on the coast: one is a living space for relaxation with the other two offer accommodation for couples, friends or families in cheerful wooden clap-board houses typical of the sun-bleached region.

There is just one member of staff (and his dog) resident on Coral Caye; he can organise a simple breakfast, set up a barbecue, and arrange excursions and spa treatments for you.  Snorkels and kayaks are available on the island for you to explore the surrounding turquoise waters.

The greatest allure of this secretive islet, guarded by a reef where whale sharks and manatees can be spotted Apr-Jun, is its exclusivity. You can book both cottages but if you only need one, the other will not be rented to anyone else.
