Spectacularly located former monastery which retains its colonial character with simple décor and wooden furnishings. Views of the Hill of Seven Colours are a highlight.

El Manantial del Silencio, a former monastery is a 10-minute walk from the village centre with a spectacular backdrop of the sweeping multicoloured rock ridges of the Quebrada de Humahuaca (Hill of Seven Colours). The hotel retains the original character of the whitewashed, estancia-style building, and the simple décor and wooden furnishings complement the property’s high ceilings and cool terracotta-tiled floors, all set among lawns, terraces and gardens.

The 18 modest rooms have a rustic charm and views of either the gardens or the spectacular Hill of Seven Colours. Local artefacts add a distinctive Latin American character to the common areas, which include a TV room and a cosy lounge with a fireplace. There’s also a small swimming pool and a restaurant whose menu features local specialities such as llama.
