MS Roald Amundsen / MS Fridtjof Nansen
Named after legendary Norwegian Explorers, MS Roald Amundsen and MS Fridtjof Nansen are no less intrepid, built specifically to navigate the icy waters of Alaska and Antarctica.
With a maximum capacity of 530, the ships are small enough to navigate narrow inlets and passages that the large liners cannot, yet big enough to avoid any sense of cabin fever.
Launched in 2019 and 2020 respectively, identical sister ships MS Roald Amundsen and MS Fridtjof Nansen feature a hybrid propulsion system that reduces both noise production and fuel consumption.
Passengers can choose to dine in three different restaurants, and take advantage of facilities including a twin level observation deck, explorer lounge bar, fitness centre, hot tub, pool and spa complete with sauna and treatment rooms.
An interactive science centre, packed with state-of-the-art gadgets and equipment, gives the expedition crews the perfect environment to help passengers gain a deeper understanding of the geography, history and wildlife they are encountering.
The cabins, all of which are outward facing, feature Scandinavian design and materials, half with private balconies. Some suites even boast private outdoor hot tubs from where the occupants can admire the ever-changing views while soaking away their aches and pains.
